Music Ministry

Our band has grown in number and anointing since we began. At times we used C.D.s to sing along with but are now blessed to have a band of mixed ages and colours to lead the Praise and Worship each Sunday. The presence of God is always felt and people’s lives are changed in His Presence each week. As the altar call is given we thank God for being Jehovah Shammah - “He is here”.

Our goal is to have a full band with drums, saxophone, lead guitars etc. As most of our congregation do not come from financially affluent backgrounds there has not been opportunity for them to learn a musical instrument, but God knows and He is providing every step of the way!! Pray for us to have our own building so all the equipment does not have to be packed up each week and carted in a trailer!

We will keep you posted on that exciting development!

Ladies Ministry

The Lord raised Merv up in this ministry 20 years ago. What started as a one-on-one ministry grew into small groups / home cell meetings to pulpit teaching / preaching / counselling. With a call to go and teach God’s Word and “ set the captives free” the public ministry began 10 years ago. Ladies from all walks of life with varied backgrounds – financially, ages and denominations plus the unchurched began to seek the Truth in Jesus and the Word of God and see results. He truly did come to save, deliver and set them free! Teachings on “who you are in Christ,” following Him solely and taking God at His Word has brought salvation, life changing freedom and wholeness to many ladies. With weekly meetings, friendship lunches, annual camps and Christmas Functions many ladies are now walking in a renewed life of restored dignity, self esteem and femininity – knowing how special they are in the Lord’s sight and with each other.

Our teachings are taped and the Word goes out to friends and relatives of those who attend with wonderful results. The practical results have brought testimonies of healing, physically, emotionally, in relationships and personal transformation. All Glory to Jesus Christ!! Together with her co-teacher / preacher Lorraine Woodenberg, they reach out to all those the Lord puts across our path and who need help. They have ministered from prostitutes in Durban to the affluent, all with the same needs!! Jeremiah 29: 11-13.

Children’s Ministry

This ministry has grown over the past 6 years since we began in the Blue Waters hotel. We now have up to 150 children, from babies to older teenagers! We have 5 groups – “The Lambs” are the Pre-school age group; then 6-8 yrs; 9-11yrs; 12-14yrs and then the teens. As a qualified teacher Merv, together with a staff of 14 volunteer teachers / helpers and an excellent Children’s Church syllabus, the Word of God is taught to the children and young people in a practical and fun way with an activity for each one to take home each Sunday. Many of the children come from the police flats next to C.R. Swart Square, the police headquarters for Kwa Zulu Natal.

These flats are unkept and most of the parents do not attend church, so this is an area of constant outreach.. The children have grown to love Jesus and receive Him as their personal Saviour and Friend. We have a “Bible Buck Shop” which encourages the children to learn memory verses, show good character etc. to receive their Bible bucks and then go “shopping!” They love it!! We have an annual Talent Show and Youth Camp and are looking to have a Children’s Camp in 2006. The children are collected and taken home each week by the Elders in a combi and cars and some walk to church. We have AIDS orphans, as well as a few teen parents who attend the teen class whilst their children attend the Lambs group, many refugee and underprivileged children who come week by week.

Our goal is to preach, teach and practically show the love of God through the Word of God. Most of them have found salvation in Jesus through children’s church. Pray for us as we see a difference in the lives of these precious children.

Ministry to the Aged

For 6 years Pastor Ben together with Bill, a retired lay preacher, and a resident of John Conradie Home have ministered weekly to the aged. They are ably assisted by members of Truth Ministries; namely Shenaaz, Rosa, Subrayan and Clement who bring the Word of God and pray for these precious people, befriend them and have a genuine interest in their well being.

Over the years many of the residents of John Conradie (TAFTA) have found salvation in Jesus in their twilight years. Others; lost, hopeless, sick, forgotten and frail have also been restored through the Grace of God. Most have to survive on government pensions and so appreciate food parcels, clothing and donations which are often forthcoming. Informal social gatherings are also much appreciated and form the highlight of their year, including our Christmas Party given before each holiday season.

We have seen many healings in these precious peoples' lives not only physical, but emotional and spiritual!! Praise the Lord for His Love for each one of these often neglected people and the faithfulness of those who minister weekly to them.
